How Wide-Input DC-DC Converters Simplify BESS Power Architecture

Wide-input DC-DC converters  allow BESS designers to derive stable low-voltage power directly from a variable high-voltage battery bus.

For BMS and cooling controls, MEAN WELL’s DDRH and RSDH high-voltage DC-DC converter families provide practical, isolated HV-to-LV options across compact, DIN-rail, and enclosed installation formats.

In a conventional BESS, the high-voltage battery bus may first feed an auxiliary AC supply or intermediate DC bus before a second converter produces 24 V or 48 V for BMS, communications, contactor coils, sensors, fans, and pump controls. This adds hardware, wiring, conversion loss, and potential failure points.

Below is how Mean Well’s convertors solve the issue

The DDRH and RSDH families cover complementary BESS auxiliary-power requirements. Both provide 4 kVAC input-to-output isolation and options for 12 V, 24 V, 32 V, and 48 V outputs, enabling direct conversion from high-voltage PV strings, battery stacks, and DC buses
